We want to use the RDCEO for representing our learning objectives. We've used a top-down approach in creating the objectives--that is, we have some high-level objectives, some more specific objectives which fulfill the higher-level objectives, some even more specific objectives, and so on. My question is how to specify these types of relationships with RDCEO.
For example, look at this graphic. Let's say these are all learning objectives, with the more general ones higher up and the more specific ones lower down. How would I represent this in RDCEO? ------------------------- </byuhobbes> |

Hi,
The issue is how the competencies are assigned to the learning object and how the relationships between learning objects are described. In IMS this is achieved using IMS GLC Content Packaging (CP) specification. This describes logical relationships between learning materials and identifies the set of resources. The trick is to use the hierarchy of the 'item' in the CP to establish the relationships. Next, each and every resource can then have external metadata associated with it in the form of RDCEO instances. So you need to look at the use of CP to package all of the content together with he RDECO XML instances. Colin S. ------------------------- Colin Smythe IMS GLC Chief Architect |
