About:
Headquartered in Oberlin, OH, the National Association of College Stores (NACS) is the trade association representing the nearly $11 billion higher education retail industry.
NACS is the leading resource and advocate for the industry while ensuring the vitality of
higher education retailers through education and research; the provision of critical
programs and services; and the development of strategic partnerships that enable
members to better serve their customers.
Membership
NACS members include more than 3,100 college stores, plus 1,000 associate members
who supply products and services to college stores.
Member Benefits
NACS offers members a wide variety of products and services with an emphasis on
education, information, and money-saving programs. They include:
-
Advocacy initiatives that seek to positively affect the legislative process on behalf of
retailers through NACS' office in Washington, D.C., and legal action when
necessary. NACS also helps college stores gain positive visibility in the higher
education community (e.g., through image-enhancing ads), with students and with the
general public (e.g., through public relations strategies).
- Professional training opportunities, from online programs, to conferences and
CAMEX, the industry's largest trade show and educational event.
- Money-saving programs for services such as discounted freight and shipping,
merchant clearance, health insurance, background checks, and catalog and flyer
design/production.
- Industry publications with up-to-date information on issues affecting the industry.
NACS produces The College Store, a bi-monthly magazine and Campus Marketplace,
a weekly e-mail newsletter.
- The opportunity to connect with peers. NACS facilitates community among members
to help find solutions, obtain answers to daily challenges, and to work smarter.
Electronic discussion lists are just one way NACS fosters the strength of this
community.
Subsidiary Organizations:
NACS, Inc., is comprised of several subsidiaries. They include: NACSCORP, a for-profit
wholesale distributor and retail services provider; NACS Foundation, a charitable
foundation that supports industry research and education; PartnerShip is a discount
shipping service provider to more than 16,500 small- and medium-sized businesses,
primarily through trade associations; and Campus Computer Resellers Alliance,
(CCRA), a special interest group of stores that sell computer products.
