Using Digital Credentials to Build a Talent Pipeline
Sunday, March 12 | 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Higher education is under pressure to prepare our learners for a skills-based economy. Leveraging digital credentials like microcredentials and comprehensive learner records can help us bridge the education-to-employment gap and meet the workforce needs in our communities. We will showcase two different credentialing approaches designed to meet regional needs. One community college district developed a microcredentials and digital badges program that provides short-term learning opportunities with visible outcomes to enable learners to upskill or reskill quickly. Another community and technical college system created a process for their schools to issue comprehensive learner records to their learners, providing more visibility into what skills and experiences their graduates have. Both institutions are partnering with regional employers to understand and meet their needs and will share how their programs are developing a talent pipeline.
