Testing Environment for LIS

In topic we want to discuss the first steps of integration between Student Information System (SIS) and Learning Management System (LMS). How can we have a testing environment to figure out the process more easily.

The LIS standard is very good and well accepted by stakeholders but on the first steps it has a lot of documents and developers or software architects (who are new to this field) have no idea about the architecture of and file types.
In addition it will facilitate the whole process, because instead of doing waterfall process, LMS vendors implement the necessary interfaces through a iterative development process.
