Rose Rocchio

Director of Educational and Collaborative Technology, Office of Information Technology, UCLA

Rose is the Director of Education and Collaborative Technologies for the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at UCLA. With over 23 years of experience in this field, Rose has expertise in directing, managing, planning and facilitating software design, development and system deployment. She directs four of OIT’s units, providing database and application design, accessibility, mobile consulting for UCLA academic IT units. Rose has expertise in developing Higher Ed collaborative communities, and is currently chairing Educause’s ECAR Mobile Strategies & Application Development (MSAD) working group.  In addition, Rose’s team founded the Mobile Web Framework (http://mwf.ucla.edu), a responsive design toolkit called WebBlocks and facilitates collaboration with the Cornell based ohmage team.  In addition Rose is working with 1EdTech on the CASA (Community App Sharing Architecture) initiative, to allow higher ed to share apps in a peer to peer model.  Rose has presented at the Educause Annual Conference on several topics including as well as at the ECAR (previously ACTI) annual meetings and Educause Connect regional events. Rose holds a MBA from UCLA and a BS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
