EdTech Leaders Perspectives: An Interview with LearningMate

  • Mohit Bhargava, Chief Strategy Officer and President, LearningMate

Mohit Bhargava stresses that many institutions were caught off guard and consequently went to synchronous online instruction primarily, ignoring lessons learned from successful online learning programs. The online modality is no longer a choice—but a necessity—for institutions with many looking to develop high performing online experiences, including curriculum, courses, faculty/learner readiness, assessment, accessibility, and community engagement. Schools are not going back to where they were before this experience. There is a sense of urgency to redesign teaching and learning models that have been around for 30-40 years or longer. Institutions will consider the types of learning experiences they wish to support; a distributed architecture with less focus on the LMS is likely needed. This experience validates the 1EdTech work, which enables each institution to design the educational experience by defining how functionality and data are spread across their ecosystem, with more work to do as the new learning paradigms evolve.

"I'm excited because this is the first time that we've been pushed to make a fundamental shift in how we do things, and the outcome if going to be significantly better."
