IMS Global Learning Consortium Announces Finalists for 2007 Learning Impact Awards

In its inaugural year 25 finalists demonstrating high impact use of technology to enhance learning are selected for showcase at upcoming Learning Impact conference, April 16-18, in Vancouver

Lake Mary, FL - 7 March 2007 - The IMS Global Learning Consortium (GLC) today announced 25 finalists for the new LIA Awards recognizing high impact use of technology in support of learning. Finalists were selected based on several evaluation factors including impact on learner achievement, impact on faculty adoption, financial return, impact on access, impact on accountability, and use of interoperability standards. The finalists have been asked to exhibit at the IMS GLC Learning Impact conference, April 16-18, in Vancouver. Final rankings and awarding of platinum, gold, silver, and bronze LIA Awards will be made at the conference based on the review of a panel of expert judges and input from the conference participants. LIA LogoThe LIA awards program is unique in that it recognizes learning innovation both in terms of the technology used and the educational organization that has utilized it for high impact, capturing the essential elements of innovation, adoption, and learning. The 25 finalists include 14 from outside the United States. Three of the finalists represented government-led initiatives, five represented collaborations/use across a system or other group of institutions, two represented community sharing of content, and fifteen represent individual institutional initiatives. Four finalists were in the research category, six in the new category, and fifteen in the established category.
