LTI 1.3 is the latest upgrade to the IMS Global Learning Consortium® (IMS) Learning Tools Interoperability® (LTI®) standard. By leveraging the new IMS Security Framework, LTI 1.3 provides improved security and privacy, and it is required for LTI Advantage. Unicon’s LTI 1.3 in Action video presents live demos of LTI 1.3 tool launches from Canvas, Blackboard®, and Sakai, which are all IMS-certified for LTI Advantage. It also includes an in-depth and easy-to-understand review of the updated messaging and authentication flow.

LTI 1.3 is based on a modernized security model that is robust and scalable. It supports flexible and secure passing of user and results data across all LTI-enabled applications. LTI 1.3 also provides a simple upgrade path from LTI 1.1, which is the most widely adopted version of LTI. LTI Advantage is a set of services built on LTI 1.3 that make it easier for faculty to create rich and interactive learning experiences by providing deep linking and improved grade transfer between learning applications and tools.
