1EdTech Webinar: Enabling Accessibility in Learning Technology

WCET and the 1EdTech Consortium Accessibility Community of Practice invite you to join a webinar on Thursday, March 16, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. EDT to explore the challenges and opportunities for standards-based accessibility work.

Accessibility is a complex topic that has long been a focus of institutions and organizations like WCET. But understanding how open standards for learning technology can be used to help institutions meet accessibility requirements has not been a widely discussed topic. To develop accessible educational technology standards, voices from all members of the ecosystem—from content authoring to delivery platforms—must be heard.

Join our panel for an engaging discussion on open standards as they align to the needs of individuals, policy implications of adopting standards, and institutional perspectives on the value of open standards in practical, not technical terms.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • interoperability and integration - Learning Tools Interoperability® (LTI®)
  • personalization - AccessForAll™
  • analytics - Caliper Analytics®
  • accessible content - EPUB

And learn about resources being developed by the community of practice, including the recently published paper Enhancing Accessibility through 1EdTech Learning Standards, which are meant to help overcome challenges institutions have with accessibility and promote an access for all ecosystem.

Moderator: Kara Monroe, Ivy Tech Community College

Panelists: Jane Berliss-Vincent, University of Michigan; Markus Gylling, 1EdTech Consortium; Brian Richwine, Indiana University; Philip Voorhees, University of Nevada, Las Vegas
