Joaquin has over 20 years of experience in education and technology. He joined IMS Global after serving as the Director of School Technology Strategy for the NYC Department of Education, where he implemented a multi-year roadmap of eLearning products and advised superintendents, principals and central offices in the effective delivery of ed-tech related initiatives and programs.

Prior to his time at the NYCDOE, he served as an instructional technology consultant for organizations such as Teaching Matters Inc. and Computers for Youth.  He provided project management, planning services, and execution support to school districts in the Tri-State area. He started his career as a music teacher and administrator in his native Galicia, and also taught K-12 both in California and New York.

Joaquin has a BA in Music and Education, Master degrees in Humanities and Information Technology with a specialization in eLearning. He is an avid soccer fan.
