The Deep Linking message provides a method for transferring content between systems. A deep linking item can be anything which is accessed via a URL, or can be static content captured completely within the media type. In addition to the generic class, two specific types of content item are defined, one representing a file and one an LTI launch link. In each case, a content item may include advice on how it is best presented to users for display. This element would be omitted when the content is merely being passed for consumption by the recipient system and not to insert into a content page; for example, a homework file.
