Gylling Brings Deep Experience in Standards Development and Strong Track Record of Leadership and Innovation
Lake Mary, Florida – 7 July 2016 – 1EdTech Consortium (1EdTech/1EdTech), the world leader in EdTech interoperability and innovation today announced that Markus Gylling will join 1EdTech to lead 1EdTech efforts in accessibility and digital content and to serve as the primary executive for 1EdTech Europe effective October 1, 2016. The appointment will help accelerate the effective adoption and use of e-textbooks and other digital learning materials for all learners worldwide and will strengthen support and integration resources for 1EdTech members across Europe.
With over 15 years of experience in standards development and software tools, Gylling brings extensive expertise to help drive 1EdTech’s technical roadmap and workgroup activities in support of 1EdTech’s accessibility and digital content initiatives. As the primary executive contact for 1EdTech Europe, Gylling will build and facilitate the growing community of 1EdTech members in Europe, including the United Kingdom.
Gylling joins 1EdTech from the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF), where he is the CTO and also served as the co-chair of the IDPF EPUB 3 Working Group, as well as co-chair of the W3C Digital Publishing Interest group. In addition to his role at IDPF, he was also the CTO of the DAISY Consortium, a global partnership of organizations committed to creating the best way to read and publish, for everyone. Through his work with DAISY, he served as the Advisory Committee representative for DAISY at W3C. Prior to his work with DAISY and IDPF, Markus worked as head of systems engineering at the Swedish government agency MTM.
