The profiles described below are included in the 1EdTech Caliper Analytics® v1.1 standard and the full technical and implementation details are included in the specification documentation. As new profiles are added to Caliper, they will be listed here.

Caliper Profiles
Caliper defines a number of metric profiles, each of which models a learning activity or a supporting activity that helps facilitate learning. Each profile provides a domain-specific set of terms and concepts that application designers and developers can draw upon to describe common user interactions in a consistent manner using a shared vocabulary. Annotating a reading, playing a video, taking a test, or grading an assignment submission represent a few examples of the many activities or events that Caliper's metric profiles attempt to describe.

Annotation Profile
Follow learners as they bookmark content, highlight selected text, and tag digital resources. Analyze annotations to better assess learner engagement, comprehension and satisfaction with the materials assigned.
Assessment Profile
As learners take assessments and engage with individual assessment items, track attempts, completion times, and item skips and responses. Analyze test-taking patterns alongside learning data that provide insights into test prep behavior.
Assignable Profile
While learners work on assignments, track attempts and time on task. Combine data with performance measures to assess the efficacy of assigned resources, learner engagement, and comprehension.
Feedback Profile
The Caliper Feedback Profile collects events about a Person providing feedback on a resource which is typically a piece of student work.
Forum Profile
Monitor discussion forum participation. Forums typically encompass one or more threads or topics to which members can subscribe, post messages and reply to other messages if a threaded discussion is permitted. Identify popular topics and posts that generate the most replies. Perform sentiment analysis on message content.
Grading Profile
Add assignment and assessment attempt scoring to the event stream. Compare scores to learner data that sheds light on study and/or test prep behaviors.
Media Profile
Explore learner interactions with audio, images, and video. Track media usage, navigation activity, and viewing patterns. Combine data with performance measures to assess the efficacy of assigned resources, learner engagement, and comprehension.
Reading Profile
Collect usage data on e-book, e-text, and other text-based digital resources. Track usage, navigation activity, and viewing patterns. Combine data with performance measures to assess the efficacy of assigned resources, learner engagement, and comprehension.
Resource Management Profile
Describes actions around the management of digital resources. This includes administrative tasks inlcuding Create, Copy, Deleted, Saved, and Archived.
Search Profile
Allows for the transmission of events related to someone querying a resource for information.
Session Profile
Track user logins, logouts, and session timeouts. Provide baseline metrics for platform and app usage. Record session start times, end times, and duration. Determine intervals between site visits.
Survey Profile
Provides a vocabulary for describing events associated with a respondent's participation in online surveys. See who opted in or out of a surver, who the survey was sent to and when a person responded, viewed, or completed the survey are all questions that can be answered using this profile.
Tool Launch Profile
Helps to record the ultization of learning tools that are launched from a centralized location such as a Learning Management System (LMS).
Tool Use Profile
Record when a learner utilizes a tool as intended by its author(s). Measure which tools are being used, how often, and by which users.
General Profile
Leverage Caliper's actions and entities to describe learning or supporting activities that have yet to be profiled.
