1EdTech Thin Common Cartridge® Profile: Implementation Guide (for CC v1.2 & v1.3)

(replaces Thin CC v1.3)

1EdTech has released the Thin Common Cartridge Profile Implementation Guide for CC v1.2 and V1.2 Final Specification in May 2015. The Thin CC profile is a greatly reduced subset of the Full Common Cartridge Specification versions v1.2 and v1.3 and as such is simpler for developers to implement. Thin CC® only contains:

Further information and test cartridges, as well as, guidance and support on conformance and implementation is provided through the Common Cartridge Alliance. Vendors are encouraged to support Thin CC, CC v1.3, CC v1.2, CC v1.1 and the import of CC v1.0 cartridges to leverage the large number of CC v1.0 cartridges already available. Version 1.3 - Final Specification

1EdTech has released the Common Cartridge version 1.3 Final Specification in July 2013. The changes in the revised version updates include:

Cartridge manifest metadata must refer to version ‘1.3.0’.
New namespace locations for Content Packaging and LOM schemas.
Cartridge, resource, and assessment item metadata now include the complete LOM set.
LTI links can now include full LOM metadata and curriculum standards metadata.
Addition of new resource types: ‘IWB®’ for interactive whiteboard files, ‘EPUB3’ for EPub 3 files, and ‘APIP®’ for Accessible Portable Item Protocol™.
Support for an extensible list of resource types.
Resource descriptor file XML can now be provided inline in the imsmanifest.

More than one question bank is permitted. In CC v1.2 and earlier, at most one question bank was allowed.

Further information and test cartridges, as well as, guidance and support on conformance and implementation is provided through the Common Cartridge Alliance. Vendors are encouraged to support CC v1.3, CC v1.2, CC v1.1 and the import of CC v1.0 cartridges to leverage the large number of CC v1.0 cartridges already available. Version 1.2 - Final Specification

1EdTech has released the Common Cartridge version 1.2 Final Specification in October 2011. The changes in the revised version updates include:

Cartridge manifest metadata must refer to version ‘1.2.0’.
Cartridge, Resource, and Item metadata can now include curriculum standards.
Addition of another optional intendeduse attribute for Web Content Resources; initial attribute values introduced in CC v1.1 were: ‘lessonplan’, ‘syllabus’ and ‘unspecified’. Version 1.2 addes the value ‘assignment’.
New namespace locations for all schemas.
QTI items must include the cc_profile metadata.
QTI Fill-In-The_Blank response processing will allow OR in addition to AND and NOT. This is not strictly something new, but rather OR was omitted incorrectly from CC v1.1.
