EUNIS Congress 2021 (European UNiversities Information Systems)
As part of our ongoing collaboration, 1EdTech Europe will be co-organizing a number of sessions at the #EUNIS21 Congress for European universities in June.
The event features an inspiring schedule of presentations, roundtables, and workshops. Here are just a few of the sessions featuring 1EdTech members that we think will interest you.
Workshops (1-4 June)
Tuesday, 1 June – 14.00-17.00 (CEST)
Everywhere and Nowhere: student mobility in the era of micro learning, digital credentials and blockchain
Outline agenda (times are approximate)
14.00 – Playing with Micro-credentials: Going Beyond the Sandbox
This talk explores the rapidly evolving micro-credentialing movement and the implications for higher education. It provides a working European definition of the concept of micro-credentials and endeavors to explain why there is such growing interest worldwide in alternative models of recognition—for better and worse. In attempting to get out of the micro-credential sandbox and position them within an expanded 21st Century credential ecology, a diverse range of both European and international examples will be shared with participants. The key message of the talk is that the micro-credentialing movement needs to be taken seriously, and European higher education institutions need to develop a strategic response to this potentially disruptive change force. Arguably, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine traditional models of recognition and credentialing in the service of a more digitally connected learning society.
14.30 – Viewpoints: a range of perspectives on why micro-credentials are important and why universities should be looking to deliver value in this way
15.30 – Case studies exploring benefits such as student employability, workforce diversity, and regional labor market development.
16.30 – Our panelists will discuss technology, standards, credibility, and points of commonality and controversy.
Wednesday, 2 June – 14.00-17.00 (CEST)
