
Dr. Michael J. Savoie, Ph.D., serves as the Dean of the College of Technology & Computing at Utah Valley University. As Dean, Dr. Savoie oversees a college with 151 full-time faculty, 40 full-time staff, and over 100 part-time employees. The College educates roughly 11,0000 students, has approximately 4,000 declared majors and an annual budget approaching $23M. He was recently awarded a $300,000 National Science Foundation grant to create a pollution monitoring grid for the Utah Valley.
Prior to joining UVU, Dr. Savoie served as Director of the Center for Information Technology and Management (CITM) in the School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas. Dr. Savoie was the Center’s founder and served as Director from 2001 to 2012. He has been involved in over $50M in grants and projects and served as Principal Investigator (PI) on over $3M in projects for the Center.
Dr. Savoie is also President and CEO of HyperGrowth Solutions, Inc., a company specializing in the integration of business and technology. He has over 25 years of experience in Cyber Security, Data Vulnerability, Executive Management, Information Systems, Engineering, Operations Management, Quality Management & Control and Training. Dr. Savoie is an internationally recognized public speaker, serves as a consultant to numerous companies, and is currently working as a technology advisor to federal, state, and local governments.
Dr. Savoie is an award-winning teacher and the author of over 150 articles, chapters, and books on information technology, data security, electronic commerce, quality, operations management, and continuous improvement, among others. His current research and writings explore the role of information technology in organizational transformation. His latest book Building Successful Information Systems: Five Best Practices to Ensure Organizational Effectiveness and Profitability was published by Business Expert Press in December 2012.
Dr. Savoie has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA, and a Ph.D. in Operations Management with a Business Computer Information Systems support.
