Technical Program Manager

1EdTech Consortium is the world’s leading organization dedicated to education technology innovation and interoperability, committed to better learning through better learning technology. We have a opening for a Technical Program Manager.

The program manager serves as product owner of one or more 1EdTech standards, responsible for advancing the success of the standard in the market, facilitating technical project group sessions and managing the efforts of contributing software architects, engineers and developers related to the assigned products.

The program manager will facilitate an agile software specification development process, be skilled at coordinating internal resources and third parties and develop detailed project plans to propel and track progress.

He/she will own the product’s presentation on 1EdTech web sites, oversee product-related member forums, and drive the delivery of impactful products to promote education technology interoperability. The program manager organizes and ensures all releases are delivered on schedule within scope and budgeted resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage agile specification development and related projects from initiation through completion, and promote project management best practice

  • Coordinate with sponsors, stakeholders, and project teams to define and document product value, features, requirements, scope, plans and outcomes

  • Based on feedback from management and the Product Steering Committee help to balance the project portfolio, maintain updated priorities, and allocate staff resources across projects

  • Provide status updates (both verbally and in writing) to project groups, stakeholders, and senior leadership

  • Guide and coach participants in adopting agile / scrum best practices and values

  • Prepare and archive project management documentation

  • Maintain Github repos related to specification development

  • Focus on and build community providing support and documentation for members

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 4+ years of experience managing technology projects; of which at least 2 years should be managing projects using agile /scrum methodologies

  • Excellent communication skills, organization, and attention to detail

  • Experience using and maintaining Github repositories or related tools

  • Knowledge and experience with 1EdTech standards and APIs

  • Embraces ownership in the success of one or more 1EdTech standards products

  • A quick learner, self-directed possessing excellent problem-solving skills

  • Enjoy helping others solve problems

  • Technical support or customer service experience

  • Technical writing experience

  • Comfortable presenting technical information to a general or technical audience

  • Provide on average a minimum of 40 hours of work to 1EdTech per week in performance of the above services.  Normal hours of operation are based upon US Eastern Time zone

  • Other duties as assigned

Travel: Four times per year 1EdTech hosts a four-day member’s meeting in locations primarily in the United States.  Other periodic and incidental travel may also be necessary.
