Lake Mary, Florida, 13 March 2008. Today the 1EdTech Learning Consortium (1EdTech GLC) announced the first meeting of a new special interest group concerned with achieving better interoperability in practice using popular standards and specifications for digital learning content and applications. The meeting will occur at 1EdTech’s annual Learning Impact conference, held May 12-15 in Austin, Texas, USA. The conference session will include some of the world’s leading implementers of 1EdTech Content Packaging, 1EdTech Simple Sequencing, SCORM®, Common Cartridge and related 1EdTech GLC specifications, such as KERIS (Korea Education and Research Information Service), The Le@rning Federation of Australia, JISC CETIS, Giunti Labs, Florida Virtual School, Icodeon, Microsoft, and Desire2Learn.

The special interest group will address how to simplify learning content and application interoperability in a web-based world, including:

  • Integration of SCOs into Common Cartridge
  • Simple Sequencing in practice
  • Integration of and tracking using QTI
  • Use of Learning Tools Interoperability for “Content-less” interoperability
  • The role of 1EdTech Shared State Persistence
  • The potential role of Learning Design
  • Preservation and evolution of 1EdTech Content Packaging
  • The role of 1EdTech Access for All and Reusable Definition of Competencies and Educational Objectives (RDCEO)

 

The special interest group will address interoperability in practice across all learning segments including corporate education, higher education, and K-12/Schools education.
