4 June 2018
The initial publication of OneRoster® (version 1.0)—one of 1EdTech’s most impactful and widely adopted standards—has achieved its primary goal to streamline the rostering of students in digital learning apps.
Through the leadership of 1EdTech members, the standard has evolved to provide full student lifecycle and two-way data synchronization beyond enrollments to include student information, learning resources, assignments, and grades—available in
OneRoster 1.1.
Interoperability relies on market alignment to standards. The widespread
adoption of OneRoster 1.1, along with a relatively simple upgrade from 1.0, led the
OneRoster Product Steering Committee to recommend deprecation of OneRoster 1.0.
OneRoster 1.0 Scheduled Deprecation
Effective January 1, 2019, 1EdTech will no longer offer new certifications for OneRoster 1.0.
Re-certifications for OneRoster 1.0 will be accepted through December 31, 2018.
1EdTech recommends that certifications initiated from the date of this announcement—June 4, 2018—forward should be for OneRoster 1.1.
OneRoster 1.1 is the stable and currently recommended version of OneRoster. Procurement language requesting conformance certification can be found
here.
