Grade Ranges in 1.2 vs. Thin CC

I am having a little difficulty helping a partner define grade ranges in their common cartridge. They are following the 1.2 spec and typicalAgeRange does not seem to be supported at the resource level. Also, "From Grade"/"To Grade" is not found in 1.2, but I see it at the resource level for Thin CC.

Can somone clarify the best way to define the grade range for a resource in a common cartridge at 1.2?
