European QTI Workshop

The Netherlands

1EdTech e-Assessment Workshop

27-28 August 2015
Vergadercentrum Utrecht

1EdTech Consortium and the College voor Toetsen en Examens (exam board of the Ministry of Education in the Netherlands) hosted a special e-Assessment workshop in Utrecht in The Netherlands, 27-28 August 2015.

The purpose for this meeting was to connect European (existing and future) users of QTI with each other and with 1EdTech and to create awareness in Europe for the work that 1EdTech is doing. Our goal was to give European members of 1EdTech more visibility into the latest developments in e-assessment technology and standardization, and ensure their needs are addressed.

To achieve this, the workshop consisted of three sessions - one general 1EdTech session and two QTI-specific sessions.

The first morning (27 August 2015), presenters from 1EdTech provided an introduction on 1EdTech and provided a general overview of 1EdTech standards like QTI, LTI, Caliper and other technical activities. In the afternoon, we focused on e-Assessment and QTI. We started with an update from 1EdTech session on QTI. After that, all attendees provided a short (5 minutes) overview of their involvement in testing, their use (or planned use) of the QTI and APIP standards, and identifed current pain points and additional features and functionality to consider for future standardization. On the last day, specific discussion themes related to QTI that were identified on the afternoon of the first day, were discussed in more detail.
