The annual gathering for education and technology leaders from European institutions, edtech suppliers, and industry partners will take place 14-16 October 2020. The education world is changing, leading to an enormous uptick for online learning, e-assessment, digital credentials and more. To help institutions, suppliers, and other stakeholders across Europe it is imperative that we continue to collaborate on how to improve the interoperability and usability of digital educational technologies. Together, we will shape the future of education.
The 2020 IMS Europe Summit includes engaging general sessions that will cover milestones and momentum with IMS standards in the areas of digital credentialing, analytics, and evolving an open edtech ecosystem. In-depth sessions and bootcamps will explore how IMS members are leveraging IMS standards to improve teaching and learning experiences. Subject areas for the sessions include Digital Credentialing, E-Assessment, Plug-and-Play Ecosystem, and Actionable Data. Breakout sessions will cover a variety of trending topics concerning innovative digital learning solutions.
Currently, our plans are to host the meeting in Cambridge, United Kingdom, where the event will be hosted by Cambridge Assessment. We realize the future of travel is uncertain, so we will monitor the situation closely and make adjustments as needed to ensure the collaboration continues whether it be face-to-face, online, or in a hybrid manner. Regardless of the format, the most important thing is that you plan to meet on these days in order to advance the development of online learning in Europe.
The conference will start on Wednesday (14 October) at 16:00 hours with a welcome followed by a reception to give you an opportunity to meet other attendees. On Thursday and Friday (15-16 October) there will be a variety of engaging sessions where you can gain new knowledge, share your experiences and have discussions about trends shaping the educational landscape. Parallel to the sessions, there will be hands-on Bootcamps on LTI Advantage and QTI 3. The conference ends on Friday afternoon at 15:00. View the full schedule of sessions to date.
On Wednesday (14 October) there will be several technical meetings for IMS Contributing Members starting at 09:00. These meetings are open for all IMS Contributing Members to attend. Access is free; registration is required.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Institutional IT and academic leaders, edtech supplier executives and product managers, teaching and learning application developers and architects, academic technology staff and managers, and directors of online programs are encouraged to attend the IMS Europe Summit. Participants join from around the globe, but mostly from European countries. You do not have to be a member of IMS Global Learning Consortium to attend the IMS Europe Summit.
There will be two hands-on Bootcamps at this year’s IMS Europe summit in Cambridge. One will be on LTI Advantage and one will be on QTI 3. In the Bootcamps, you will gain practical knowledge of the standards. Participants will get access to new IMS development utilities and support from IMS technical staff to help you transition to the latest version. These Bootcamps are a unique opportunity to work with other developers, programmers, engineers, and educational technologists who are working to advance the standard. There is an additional fee for attending the Bootcamp.
Each Bootcamp is preceded by an in-depth technical session. If you are relatively new to the standard, we strongly advise you to attend this session before you join the Bootcamp.
